KEEPING  THE LATEST GENERATION OF KNESELS AT HOME  ON KNESEL STREET

It was sometime in the 18th century that the first Knesels settled in this corner of Staten Island.  Like many of the early German settlers they found the topography and soil of Staten Island suited them well. Generations came and went. Lumber and coal were added to the family businesses.  In time, as is often the case, the land was largely sold off. Despite the ever diminishing property lines,  there was continuity as Knesel descendants continued to live  on what became known as Knesel street,

Most recently Jude Knesel continued  the tradition, as his forbears did before him, by raising a family in a  Knesel Street home, the very home he grew up in. Economic setbacks resulting from the economic implosion of  2008 led Jude and his family into foreclosure.  For the first time in centuries the unthinkable possibility that Knesel Street would not have a single Knesel living there became a real possibility.

Our office  was asked to help. It took a bit of time and a lot of effort.  There were least 12 Court appearances,  all part of a vigorous winning legal defense, but we are thrilled to say that the Knesels are no longer in danger of losing the family homestead. 

We hope other Knesels will continue to enjoy the their  proud legacy for at least a few more centuries!
